Favourite team signings - Arsenal Pt.2

Oliver Giroud

Top scorer of Ligue 1 the last season, he has been an top scorer for many years. Even at the start of his career he would show that he possesses great goalscoring abilities. At Grenoble's reserve team he would have an average rate of 1 goal per match, as he scored 15 goals out of 15 matches during his time there. Eventually he would be transferred to the A-team, but his luck there was no good.

On a loan to Istres, he managed to score again and other clubs were intrested in him. Firstly Tours drew the longest straw signing him, but finally Montpellier would attract him with their aim for league-gold. Tours eventually got him back on a loan, during the season of 2010/11, but Montpellier finally got their star back for 2011/12. He was named top scorer by LFP despite sharing the lead with Nené by 21 goals.

Montpellier agreed with Arsenal for a transfer of Giroud on June 26 2012. The transfersfee is believed to be up to £13,5 million.

Thoughts..

Giroud is a player I really like. He's tall (1,92 m), and takes very much advantage of that in his style of playing. Not only when there's chances to do headers but also physically whilst there are head-to-head challenges. His strength is also a factor that also may play into whether Arsenal may score more goals or less, but I believe that with his effectiveness, Arsenal could become very dangerous to other teams.

The only questionmark I see is how Wenger will swap between the attackers... We already have RVP, Walcott, maybe Podolski but I believe he will play more in the midfield than as a striker.
Overall I think this is a very good signing, he's very hot on the market so it's very good by Arsenal and Wenger to sign such a good player and also come closer to a new contract for RVP

Also 5/5 signing
